Cow smugglers arrested near Gadchuk flyover Three cows were recovered from the vehicle


GUWAHATI: Garchuk police station of West Guwahati district intercepted a vehicle near Garchuk flyover and safely recovered three cows during a routine search operation against illegal cattle smuggling in Guwahati.

A suspicious vehicle with registration number AS 13 L 8485 was stopped and checked during the search, police sources said. Two bulls and a cow were recovered from the vehicle. Police are currently detaining the occupants of the vehicle and are continuing to interrogate them and try to gather information about where the animals were transported from.

Illegal cattle smuggling has been carried out by the Guwahati Police and various law enforcement agencies across Assam for the past few months. The administration has tightened its vigil against smugglers, which has already resulted in the seizure of several vehicles and arrests of smugglers in various parts of the state.

Police are investigating whether the recent incident is linked to a large cattle smuggling ring operating in the area. The incident is still under investigation and more information is expected to be released later.
