Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk is currently undergoing treatment at Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital. His wife Gitanjali J has led the legal battle on his behalf. Angmo. Wangchuck had been on hunger strike for 21 days since June 28 to protest the death of students and irregularities in the competitive examination following the cancellation of the NEET exam. Delhi Police admitted him to hospital on Saturday. The Delhi High Court on Monday agreed to hear the petition filed by ANGMO. The petition demanded that Wangchuk be transferred from Safdarjung Hospital to another hospital of his choice.

Gitanjali J Angmo is not just Sonam Wangchuk’s wife, He is a social worker, Educators and Institution Builders. Born into a Punjabi Jain merchant family in Baleshwar, Odisha, Gitanjali’s family had roots in Lahore. His grandfather came from Lahore during the partition of the country. He graduated in Physics and then completed his MBA from Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar. Gitanjali started her career in the corporate world and spent six years in management consulting. Later he headed the marketing department of an Indian multinational company based in Copenhagen. But his mind soon turned to business and industry. ANGMO ENGINEERING INSTITUTE PUSHAN in the next decade and a half project, Publishing Group HelioHe established various institutions like Ace Books and Aum Hospital in Puducherry. He was also involved with companies like Shanghai Power Projects Limited.

Besides art and education, Angmo is a spiritual practitioner and advocate of holistic development. Influenced by the philosophy of Sri Aurobindo, he taught Vedanta and Bhagavad Gita. His excellence is not limited to education and business. A black belt in karate arts, Angmo is a trained Odyssey dancer who also studied Russian Bolshoi ballet in Kiev, Ukraine. In 2022, the Niti Commission awarded Angmo with the Women Transforming India Award along with 75 exceptional women in recognition of their contribution to India’s social and development sectors.
