Missing Guwahati Youth Found Dead in Assam's Garbhanga Reserved Forest, Investigation Underway


 

GUWAHATI: A 25-year-old man from Guwahati's Fatasil area, who went missing during an outing to the Garbhanga Reserved Forest, was found dead on Monday, July 13.

The deceased has been identified as Nikhil Jha. He visited the forest on Sunday with three friends, Devesh Asopa, Padam Asopa and Aman Chettri.

According to preliminary information, the group had entered the forest for a picnic and were bathing in a water body when Nikhil reportedly disappeared. Despite efforts to locate him, he remained untraceable, while the others returned safely. His family later informed the police after he failed to return home.

Acting on the information, the Rani Police launched a search operation in the forest area. On Monday, Nikhil's body was recovered from the site.

According to the media sources, police reached the spot, conducted the required legal formalities and sent the body for a post-mortem examination.

An investigation has been initiated to ascertain the exact circumstances and cause of Nikhil's death.
