‘Madhurima‘ This is the title of the new book ‘Art history‘ This image is included in the text of the name. A comparison of this photo in the textbook with the photo of the original bronze statue discovered at Mohenjo-daro shows that it has undergone many alterations thus obscuring the original appearance of the statue. The most surprising thing is‘Law that, The NCERT Class VI Social Science Textbook uses the original image of the statue. Many have questioned the use of two different images of the same historical monument in two different books by the same institution.
NCERT Grade 6 Textbook Development Committee Chief Historian Michel Denino expressed his views on the matter. He said he was informed beforehand that the original film was not suitable for younger students. But his committee did not accept it and the teachers never objected to the original film. DeNino added that changing the image of a historical landmark in this way diminishes its importance and can mislead students about our heritage and culture.
As mentioned in the Class IX book, this bronze statue dates back to around 2600 BC and was found at Mohenjodaro. The book also discusses how it was created and includes some learning activities for students. It is one of the most recognized and important antiquities of the Indus Civilization ‘The Dancing Girl‘ One. The statue has always occupied a special place in the discussion of ancient Indian art and culture. However, NCERT is yet to issue an official response to the controversy over the mismatch of the two books.
