An Indian woman who fell in love with a Pakistani terrorist and tried to escape to Pakistan through Nepal has been arrested in Jaipur. The Indian woman was planning to travel from Rajasthan to Pakistan via Nepal. Her aim was to marry a notorious terrorist commander close to Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar and join the terror outfit. The 38-year-old woman was arrested by the Rajasthan Police’s Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) before crossing the border. The tragic incident took place in Jaipur.
The arrested woman’s name is Babita Dhakar alias Khadija. Babita, a resident of Jaipur’s Sitapura area, was under the surveillance of military intelligence or army intelligence for a long time. He was arrested by the Rajasthan ATS on Sunday. A case has been registered against the woman under Section 10 of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA). He will be remanded in police custody till June
Investigators say Babita’s mobile phone and other electronic devices have been sent for forensic testing. The deceased has been identified as 20-year-old Arun Kumar. Several Pakistani numbers were recovered from Babita’s phone. A number are suspected to be followers of Yusuf Azhar, a close relative of Jaish-e-Azhar chief Masood Azhar, and Qari Zar, India’s most wanted terrorist in several terrorism cases.
During interrogation, Babita admitted that she started tracking Pakistani terrorists on social media after the 2025 Pehelgam attack in Kashmir. Out of curiosity, he sent friend requests to his followers on Facebook and various pages in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. This is how he maintained regular contact with fundamentalist and Jaish operatives in Pakistan through WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger.
Babitar met a Jaish commander named Abu Ubaidah through social media. Babita gradually fell in love with Ubaida even though it was just a chat or video call in the beginning. Babita provided OTPs of several Indian mobile numbers to Pakistani handlers, investigators said. As a result, terrorists were easily running WhatsApp and other social media accounts in Pakistan using Indian numbers.
According to early reports, Abu Ubaydah proposed marriage to Babita and encouraged her to convert to Islam. He was also advised to pray and learn Quran recitation. Ubaida then invited Babita to come to Pakistan and work for Jaish-e-Mohammed. Babita produced her passport accordingly.
Babita was regularly planning with Ubaidah and a Pakistani cleric how to reach Pakistan. He was routed to Pakistan via Nepal, Saudi Arabia or the United Arab Emirates to avoid the prying eyes of India. It was even fixed how to send money for travel expenses through cryptocurrency. Babita also downloaded the crypto app on her phone and started collecting information.
Police said Babita was talking to Ubaida on video calls for hours every day. But in the meantime he came to know that Ubaidah was married. He is somewhat disappointed with the news. But he was no less determined to harm the country even if the love was broken. How to make explosives or bombs, Babita searched the internet. He was also getting information from Pakistani handlers about Jaish sleeper cells or networks operating in India.
According to family sources, Babita was the third among five siblings. She got married in 2018 but divorced her husband a few days later. Since then he lives in his father’s house. Detectives said the woman showed no signs of remorse after her arrest. After a thorough analysis of his mobile phone data, the Rajasthan ATS believes that a deeper conspiracy of international terrorist networks could be uncovered.
