Sexual harassment case against Union Minister’s son

Son of union minister sexually assaulted. Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s son Bandi Sai Bhagirath’s problem has worsened after the Cyberabad police added a very serious clause to the case. A case was filed against the minor on May 8. Later, the police revised the case after examining the statement of the minor and collecting additional evidence.

The case invokes Section 64 (2) (M) of the Indian Judicial Code, BNS, as well as Sections 5 (1) and 6 of the Pokcho Act, which deal with sexual assault of a minor. Section 64 (2) (M) of the Indian Judicial Code provides for very severe punishment ranging from a minimum of 20 years to life imprisonment. The Pokcho Act provides severe punishment for such serious crimes against children.

Police sources said the victim’s statement was recorded before a magistrate under Section 183 of the BNS, strengthening the case. Investigating officers have collected a lot of electronic evidence, witness statements and other materials during the investigation. The investigation is going on under the supervision of Kukatpally Deputy Commissioner of Police Ritiraj. Cyberabad Special Operations Team (SOT) arrested Bhagirath (25) near Tech Park on Saturday at 8.15 pm on a tip-off.

According to sources, Bhagirath confessed his crime during interrogation in the presence of witnesses at the police station. A police official said the accused has confessed his involvement in the interrogation and a lot of evidence collected during the investigation supports the case. The court has already sent Bhagirath to 14-day judicial custody. Police officials said that further investigation is currently underway and more digital and forensic evidence is being examined as part of this investigation.

Meanwhile, BRS Executive President KT Rama Rao (KTR) demanded the immediate dismissal of Union Home Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar from the Union Cabinet so that an impartial inquiry into the Pakcho case against his son could be conducted. KTR alleged that as long as prisoner Sanjay Kumar remains in office, no impartial investigation is possible. He also questioned why the accused was kept away from the police for many days and who protected him during that time.

He said it was the first time in India that a lookout notice had to be issued against the son of a sitting Union minister and asked the government to immediately remove Bandi Sanjay from the cabinet. KTR also alleged that the minor girl’s family is under a lot of stress after the incident. If strict action is not taken against such persons, the victims will hesitate to complain against the influencers in future. The BRS leader also alleged that the state government is trying to play down the importance of the case.
