Taking a step toward unifying its former students, the Tezpur University Alumni Association (TUAA) officially marked the commencement of its newly formed Guwahati Chapter.
The chapter successfully conducted its 1st Executive Committee meeting in Jayanagar, Guwahati, on June 13, under the foundational motto: "Strengthening Alumni Connections, Building a Stronger Future Together."
During the inaugural session, the newly formed executive body, representing TUAA, which was originally established in 2000, laid down foundational strategies and key administrative resolutions aimed at structuring the chapter's future operations.
The meeting officially introduced the leadership team driving the Guwahati Chapter: President: Dr. Ranjan Dutta Kalita, Vice President: Dr. Bhaskarjyoti Gogoi, General Secretary: Bedanta Deka, Joint Secretary: Tirtharaj Gohain, Treasurer: Plaban Jyoti Buragohain, Executive Members: Kaustav Bhuyan and Shyamal Das.
The committee passed five core resolutions to establish operational guidelines.
The committee resolved to draft necessary amendments to the Memorandum of Association (MoA). These proposed changes will be formally presented for review at the next Executive Committee Meeting.
In a strong push for inclusivity, the committee decided to intentionally strengthen female alumni participation. This will be achieved by including a Female Alumni Representative as one of the Joint Secretaries and actively inducting more women into the Executive Committee.
To maintain active engagement, the executive body resolved to draft a comprehensive Annual Event Calendar outlining the chapter's upcoming activities and alumni networking events.
A structured schedule was approved to ensure operational consistency. Executive Committee Meetings will be held quarterly (once every three months), whereas the General Meeting for the entire Guwahati Chapter will be organised on an annual basis.
The committee resolved to formally initiate the process of opening a dedicated bank account in the name of the TUAA – Guwahati Chapter to manage its financial operations transparently.
