Trinamool Congress has filed a petition in Calcutta High Court against the incident of throwing eggs at leaders and MPs.


The political atmosphere in West Bengal has become very heated and tense since the recent 2026 assembly elections. After the defeat in the elections, there has been continuous anger against the leaders and workers of the Trinamool Congress. The party has its own MPThe Kolkata High Court has been approached in connection with the series of attacks on MLAs and leaders. The All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) has filed a public interest litigation in court alleging that its leaders have been publicly insulted and incidents of violence have taken place across the state.

Senior lawyer Chirchena Banerjee raised the matter before a bench headed by the Acting Chief Justice on Monday. The petition filed claims that party MP Derek O“Some people pelted eggs at several key leaders, including Brian, Kalyan Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee. They also allegedly targeted MLAs Kunal Ghosh and Madan Mitra. The Trinamool Congress party said such incidents have created an atmosphere of political violence across the state and the safety of its leaders is now under threat.”

The attack on Trinamool Congress general secretary Abhishek Banerjee has attracted the most attention. Last May 30thOn his way to meet the family of a dead party supporter in Sonarpur area, some angry people threw eggs at him. The situation got so out of control that Abhishek Banerjee had to wear a helmet to protect himself. Several eggs hit his helmet and footage of the incident went viral on social media.

Abhishek Banerjee is not the only oneSenior Trinamool MLA Madan Mitra’s car was also pelted with eggs in Kamarhati. Similarly, another Trinamool leader, Bappaditya Dasgupta, was attacked by some people who threw eggs at him while he was being taken to court. Arrested former MLA Chowkat Mollah was arrested after some people in Bhang area made egg boxes to attack him but the police took him out safely through another road.

The Trinamool Congress told the court that it was not just egg-throwingThere were also stone pelting and violent protests against party leaders at various places. After the electoral defeat, the public dissatisfaction with the allegations of corruption at the local level increased. Important meetings of the party had to be canceled due to fear of egg attacks and protests. The party has now approached the High Court seeking proper security and legal intervention for its leaders and workers.
