GUWAHATI: Three minor sisters were killed after their uncle allegedly attacked them with a sharp object at his residence in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district on Thursday evening, August 13.

The incident took place in the Suti area of Murshidabad at around 6 pm. Police said the accused, identified as 22-year-old Golam Badshah, later surrendered himself at the local police station.
According to police, four minor girls, all nieces of the accused, were at his residence and playing when he allegedly attacked them. One of the girls died on the spot, while two others succumbed to their injuries at a hospital.
The fourth girl, who also sustained serious injuries, is undergoing treatment at Behrampur Hospital and is reportedly in critical condition.
The incident came to light after relatives and people living nearby heard the minors screaming. They rushed to the residence and found the girls in a bloodied condition before arranging for medical assistance.
According to Jangipur District Police Superintendent Surinder Singh the accused would be produced before a court on Friday and taken into police custody for further questioning.
As per the Police Superintendent, the accused did not show any remorse even after he surrendered to the police. He does not seem mentally stable.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack and the motive behind the alleged killings. Further questioning of the accused is expected to shed light on what led to the incident.
The brutal attack has left the local community shocked, with the condition of the surviving girl remaining critical.
