US President Donald Trump claims to have reached a deal with Iran, as his military continues to attack Tehran. In the latest development, the US claimed to have struck a drone command base in Iran this weekend.
On Sunday, the United States said it carried out defensive strikes on Iranian radar and drone control sites on Goruk and Qesom islands this weekend. The US called it a response to Tehran’s aggressive actions.
The US Central Command said in a post on X that Iran shot down a US MQ-1 drone flying over international waters.
U.S. warplanes retaliated, destroying Iran’s air defense system, a ground control station and two one-way attack drones, Central Command said. It also noted that no US military personnel were harmed.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said on Monday that its space force had targeted an airbase believed to have been used in a US attack on a telecom tower on the island of Sirik. However, no information was given about the location of the airport.
The two countries retaliated last week. A Washington official said the US military had carried out an Iranian drone strike near the Strait of Hormuz. Then Iran attacked US air bases.
The incident comes amid ongoing tensions between Washington and Tehran. US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has warned that military action could resume if future US contracts fail to meet US conditions. He said, US forces are fully prepared for the next step.
Meanwhile, President Donald Trump has reportedly sent back the proposed deal with Iran for further revisions. According to Axios, Trump requested several changes during a meeting on Friday and has since demanded more revisions. He said he was in no rush to finalize the deal.
