A senior official of the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) confirmed the development to GPlus.
The project is part of a larger plan announced by the Assam government to develop vertical gardens across 20 major flyovers and urban corridors in the city with the aim of improving Guwahati's urban landscape and Ease of Living index.
Under the initiative, nearly 8,000 square metres of concrete surfaces along key transport corridors will be converted into vertical green spaces, integrating vegetation into existing civic infrastructure.
The vertical gardens are expected to improve the aesthetic appeal of flyovers while contributing to a greener urban environment by helping reduce heat absorption, improving air quality and making public spaces more visually appealing.
