He is only fourteen years old, but he can match even the greatest engineers in talent and innovation. A class VIII student from Kolhapur, Maharashtra surprised everyone by combining a broken, discarded bicycle and an old motorbike engine to create a fully functioning motorbike. The pediatrician is Samarth Shivam Patil, a resident of Kerali village in Karbi taluk.
Samarth’s father Shivam Patil runs a small shop in the village selling cattle feed and agricultural products. Next to the shop was Samarth’s laboratory with a welding machine and small workshop. He first tried making mini tractors or four-wheelers, but eventually used his skills to build a complete motorcycle.
To build this bike, Samarth bought a scrapped motorbike engine and gearbox from the scrap market for just Rs 3,000. He then built the frame for this bike using two old bicycles, a bicycle chain from a garage, an old M-80 moped clutch, a Hero Splendor bike stand and para.
Not only that, he made the bike’s air filter system using discarded parts from previous tests and old plastic boxes and PVC pipes as the bike’s fuel tank or oil tank. He used an old bicycle wheel as a Yamaha key and wheel to start the bike.
YouTube tutorials and various Artificial Intelligence (AI) or AI tool engineering techniques were the biggest help in this task. Samarth’s father said that Samarth has been interested in machines since childhood. He is always trying to build something and his family always helps him with encouragement and necessary materials.
With no formal degree, Samarth’s mobile bike built from scrap materials with his own will and technology has now taken the net by storm.
