GUWAHATI: Assam authorities have announced a series of stringent security and monitoring measures for the upcoming NEET re-examination, including double-layer frisking of candidates, installation of mobile jammers, enforcement of Section 144 around exam centres and round-the-clock police protection.
According to details shared after a review meeting on the examination preparations on Wednesday, June 17, all candidates will undergo double-layer frisking before entering examination centres. Prohibitory orders under Section 144 will remain in force within a 100-metre radius of all examination venues.
Mobile jammers will be installed at centres to prevent electronic malpractice, while CCTV cameras will monitor examination activities. Authorities have also arranged for 24-hour police protection at centres and said question papers will be transported under military supervision.
To facilitate candidates, free travel on ASTC buses will be provided upon production of valid admit cards.
The measures form part of a "zero-tolerance" approach aimed at ensuring a transparent and malpractice-free examination process.
The arrangements were reviewed at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma with senior officials and key stakeholders.
Following the meeting, Sarma said Assam has consistently adopted strict measures to eliminate loopholes in examination processes.
"Assam has always taken strict measures to ensure that there are no loopholes in the entire process. I've instructed officials to continue with our monitoring and ensure exams are held in a free and fair manner," the Chief Minister said in a post on X.
The enhanced security measures come amid increased scrutiny of competitive examinations across the country, with authorities seeking to ensure the integrity of the NEET re-test process.
