GUWAHATI: The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has announced a fresh round of train diversions, partial cancellations and full cancellations after heavy rainfall triggered flooding at Simaluguri and surrounding areas under the Tinsukia Division.
The railway officials said the measures were taken as a precautionary step to ensure passenger safety and maintain train operations on the affected route.

Several long-distance trains diverted
Several major trains connecting Dibrugarh to destinations such as New Delhi, Howrah, Lokmanyatilak and Kanniyakumari have been rerouted starting August 2.
Among the trains taking the longer route via North Lakhimpur, Rangapara North and Rangiya to New Bongaigaon are the Dibrugarh–New Delhi Rajdhani Express (12423) and its return service (20503), both diverted from August 5. The Avadh Assam Express (15909/15910), Kamrup Express (15960), the Dibrugarh–Lokmanyatilak Express (15946) and the Vivek Express (22504/22503) connecting Dibrugarh with Kanniyakumari are also being sent along the diversionary route via North Lakhimpur and Rangapara North, with journey commencement dates ranging from August 2 to August 5.
Similarly, both directions of the Rajdhani Express between New Delhi and Dibrugarh (12424/20504) will run via Rangiya–Guwahati–Rangiya–Rangapara North–North Lakhimpur before reaching Dibrugarh, effective August 4.
Two trains partially cancelled
The Nagaland Express services between Dibrugarh and Guwahati (15669/15670) will be short-terminated and short-originated at Mariani Junction. The Dibrugarh–Guwahati leg (15670) will remain cancelled between Dibrugarh and Mariani Jn. from August 5, while the return service (15669) will be cancelled between Mariani Jn. and Dibrugarh from August 4.
Several services cancelled outright
The railway has also cancelled several passenger, DEMU and Intercity Express services entirely, most with effect from August 4 or 5:
Tinsukia–Jorhat Town and Jorhat Town–Tinsukia Passenger (55914/55913)
Tinsukia–Lumding and Lumding–Tinsukia DEMU (75602/75601)
Guwahati–Ledo and Ledo–Guwahati Intercity Express (15603/15604)
Rangiya–New Tinsukia and New Tinsukia–Rangiya Intercity Express (15927/15928)
Rangiya–Ledo Intercity Express (15967)
Simaluguri–Dibrugarh and Dibrugarh–Simaluguri Jn. Passenger (55909/55910)
NFR has advised passengers travelling on the affected routes to check the latest status of their trains before heading to the station, as the situation is being monitored and further changes are possible depending on weather conditions in the region.
