BSF Head Constable Dies by Suicide at Border Outpost in Assam's Sribhumi


 

GUWAHATI: A Border Security Force (BSF) personnel allegedly died by suicide while on duty at an international border outpost in Assam's Sribhumi district on Sunday, June 14.

The deceased has been identified as Prem Kumar, 44, a Head Constable attached to the 171 Battalion of the BSF. He was a resident of Punjab.

According to officials, the incident occurred while Kumar was deployed at a border post along the border. Preliminary reports suggest that he allegedly shot himself using his service weapon.

Soon after the incident, senior BSF officers, local police personnel, and a magistrate reached the spot and initiated the required legal procedures.

The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, while authorities have launched an inquiry to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.
