Kamrup (M) to Launch Two-Day Rescue and Rehabilitation Drive for Beggars in Guwahati


 

GUWAHATI: The Kamrup Metropolitan district administration is set to conduct a two-day rescue and rehabilitation drive targeting beggars across various locations in Guwahati city. The drive is scheduled to take place on June 19 and 20.

A government official familiar with the drive told GPlus that the initiative aims to clear key hotspots across the city while ensuring proper rehabilitation and support for those rescued.

To ensure a comprehensive drive, the Additional District Commissioner has requested the Assistant Labour Commissioner of Kamrup (Metro) to depute dedicated officers and staff to assist with the field execution. 

The mobilisation team has been directed to assemble at the DC Office, Kamrup (Metro) at 10:00 AM on both days of the drive. 

An ACS officer in the DC Office has been designated as the primary contact person overseeing the on-ground logistics. 

Furthermore, the District Social Welfare Officer has been directed to work closely with non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to ensure that individuals rescued during the two-day drive receive adequate shelter, care and structured rehabilitation support.
