The Supreme Court will present an important bill in the Lok Sabha today


An important bill is likely to be debated in the Lok Sabha during the summer session of Parliament on Thursday. Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal will present the Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Amendment Bill, 2026 for consideration and passage today. Meanwhile, National Democratic Front (NDA) MPs will protest against the Congress party at Makar Gate of Parliament.

The bill, to be tabled by the Union Law Minister, basically proposes to amend the Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Act, 1956. The bill will also be debated on a statutory motion moved by opposition MPs in the House today. The motion was jointly moved by opposition MPs Saugata Roy, NK Premachandran and advocate Dean Kuriakos.

Opposition MPs have moved a statutory resolution in the House to reject the Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Amendment Ordinance issued by the President in May According to the revised agenda of the Parliament, the Lok Sabha will today debate on the opposition’s motion and the bill moved by the government.

The debate over the hike in the Supreme Court Judges Bill inside Parliament and the protests by ruling NDA MPs against the Congress outside are of particular significance on this crucial day of the summer session.
