GUWAHATI: A major water pipeline leakage reported near Shraddhanjali Flyover in the Sundarpur area of Zoo Road on Wednesday morning, June 17, remained unattended for several hours, causing inconvenience to residents and commuters in the locality.
According to local residents, water began gushing out from the damaged pipeline beneath the flyover, leading to significant wastage of treated water. The leakage continued throughout the day, drawing concerns from nearby residents who questioned the delay in repair work.
When contacted by GPlus, an official of the Guwahati Jal Board acknowledged the issue and said that immediate steps had been taken to control the situation.
"The valve has already been closed to stop the flow of water. Repair work will be carried out during the night, and the leakage will be fixed," the official said.
The official did not specify the exact cause of the pipeline damage but assured that the matter was being addressed and normal water supply would be restored after the repairs are completed.
