GUWAHATI: A truck carrying flood relief materials met with an accident in Assam's Sivasagar district on Saturday, August 1, disrupting the transportation of essential supplies to flood-affected areas.
According to reports, the vehicle was travelling towards Banmukh via Bikrampur Chariali when the accident occurred. The exact cause of the mishap and details of any injuries were not immediately available.
Following the accident, local residents rushed to the spot and helped recover the relief supplies to prevent them from being damaged or lost. As floodwaters had affected road connectivity in the area, villagers used boats to retrieve food items from the accident site.
The recovered supplies were later secured for distribution among flood-affected communities.
Several parts of Sivasagar continue to rely on relief and rehabilitation efforts as authorities and volunteers work to ensure essential commodities reach affected residents.
