GUWAHATI: Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu on Tuesday, August 4, reviewed the impact of recent floods on educational institutions in Charaideo district, directing officials to expedite restoration work in 110 flood-affected schools to ensure the early resumption of academic activities.
The review meeting, held at the office of the District Commissioner, Charaideo, was attended by officials of the School Education Department. The discussions focused on assessing the damage caused to school buildings, classrooms, furniture, teaching-learning materials and other educational infrastructure.
During the meeting, Pegu evaluated the extent of the damage and reviewed the measures required to restore a safe and conducive learning environment for students in the affected schools. He stressed the importance of coordinated efforts to repair damaged infrastructure and minimize disruption to the academic calendar.
The minister also directed officials to fast-track restoration work so that normal classes can resume at the earliest in the flood-hit institutions.
Sharing an update on X, Pegu said, "A comprehensive review was conducted on the damage caused to school buildings, classrooms, furniture, teaching-learning materials and other infrastructure in 110 flood-affected schools."
The state government is expected to continue monitoring the restoration process in the affected schools, with the School Education Department working alongside the district administration to ensure that damaged infrastructure is repaired promptly and students can return to classrooms without prolonged disruption.
