The shipment comprises 500 kg of the prized Piyaji variety of Tezpur litchi, a fruit renowned for its distinctive flavour, aroma and quality. The export is being seen as a significant achievement for Assam’s farmers and a testament to the increasing global demand for the state's premium agricultural products.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the export reflects the growing international appreciation for Assam’s agricultural produce. He reiterated the state government's commitment to helping local producers access global value chains and expand their market reach.
The latest consignment follows an earlier export of 1,000 kg of GI-tagged Tezpur litchi to Dubai, underscoring the fruit's rising popularity among international consumers.
Tezpur litchi, which enjoys Geographical Indication (GI) status, is one of Assam’s most celebrated horticultural products. The increasing volume of exports is expected to strengthen farmers’ incomes, enhance the fruit’s global brand value and open new avenues for agricultural trade from the state.
