Assam: Two Alleged Robbers to be Produced Before Court After Arms Seizure in Nagaon's Rupahihat


 

GUWAHATI: Two alleged robbers arrested with a pistol and live ammunition in Assam's Nagaon district on Friday June 12, will be produced before court today, June 13, police said.

The duo was apprehended by Rupahihat Police during an operation conducted in Owana village following a tip-off about their presence at a local restaurant. During the operation, police recovered a 7.65 mm pistol, two rounds of live ammunition and a keypad mobile phone from their possession.

Speaking to GPlus, a Rupahihat Police official said, "At around 10:30 am, we received information from an informant regarding two individuals at a local restaurant in Owana village. Acting on the lead, our team reached the spot and apprehended them. We seized one 7.65 mm pistol, two rounds of ammunition and a keypad mobile phone. The accused will be produced before the court today."

Police have registered a case (No. 179) under Section 312 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) read with Section 25(1)(a) of the Arms Act.

Further investigation is underway to ascertain the accused persons' criminal background and determine whether they were involved in any other criminal activities in the region.
